Amapiano star Tracy Sibiya is beginning her long road to recovery after being discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) today, April 13, 2026. The singer spent seven days under intensive medical supervision following a harrowing car accident that occurred over the Easter weekend.
The crash took place while Tracy, fellow artist Thatohatsi, and their road crew were traveling to a scheduled performance.
A “Life-Threatening” Ordeal
The incident sent shockwaves through the music industry, as initial reports from management described the scene as one that “could have turned tragic.”
- The Team Involved: Alongside Tracy and Thatohatsi (Thato Raphadi), three other team members—including their driver, DJ, and road manager—were hospitalized.
- Emergency Response: First responders acted quickly, ensuring all five individuals received immediate medical attention.
- The Longest Week: Tracy confirmed that the severity of her injuries required a full week of intensive care, a milestone she has now cleared.
Focus Shifts to Recovery
While both artists were previously listed in stable condition, this discharge marks a significant breakthrough in Tracy’s physical healing. Thatohatsi is also reported to be recovering steadily.
In a show of professional responsibility, their management has reiterated that while fans are eager for their return, the health and well-being of the artists remain the ultimate priority. There is currently no word on when they will return to the stage.
Impact on “Uhambo” EP
The accident occurred at a critical time for the duo’s career. Their highly anticipated joint Amapiano EP, “Uhambo,” is currently scheduled for release on April 24, 2026.
While there has been no official announcement regarding a delay, the focus remains on the artists’ ability to heal before re-entering the spotlight.
