South African businesswoman DJ Zinhle has hit back at TikTok users who accused her of faking a public minibus taxi trip to Fourways Mall for content.

It is not every day you see a multi-millionaire DJ and business mogul boarding a Quantum minibus taxi, so when DJ Zinhle posted her latest public transport adventure on TikTok, Mzansi’s internet detectives immediately went to work.

The Umlilo hitmaker sparked an intense online debate after sharing a video of herself and two friends ditching their luxury rides to commute to Fourways Mall via public transport. However, what was meant to be a fun, relatable outing quickly turned into a full-blown interrogation, with cynical fans accusing the star of staging the entire trip for “clout and content.”

The Fare That Raised Eyebrows

In the viral video, Zinhle explained to her millions of followers that the trio resorted to public transit after walking a considerable distance. “We’ve been walking and now we have to take a taxi,” she told the camera before hopping into the vehicle.

The skepticism erupted almost immediately once the clip showed the group paying for the ride. Millions of daily taxi commuters noticed a glaring mathematical anomaly: eagle-eyed viewers claimed Zinhle reportedly handed over a single R20 note for all three women.

With standard local taxi fares sitting at R11 per person, a trip for three should total R33. The internet quickly concluded that the math wasn’t mathing, suggesting the star had hired out a private vehicle just to film.

“The taxi was hired for this content,” commented a skeptical TikTok user named @Sucre!.

Another user, @ThaboK ThaboLights, laughed off the clip, writing: “LOL no ways, R20 to Fourways 😳😂.”

Zinhle Claps Back: “We Gave the Guy 40 Rands”

Not one to let a narrative spin out of control, the Era by DJ Zinhle founder quickly jumped into her own comment section to clear up the financial confusion and school fans on her transaction.

“It’s R11 per person. We gave the guy 40 Rands,” Zinhle fired back, shutting down rumors that she received a celebrity discount or faked the ride.

“What’s the Big Fuss?”

Fares aside, the chart-topping DJ seemed genuinely thrilled by the efficiency of South Africa’s most popular transit system. While cruising through the traffic, she smiled, admitting, “I should take a taxi every day, this is fun.”

The luxury lifestyle creator praised the convenience of the journey, wondering aloud why public transport carries such a social stigma among affluent circles.

However, her budgeting adventure had a strict luxury limit. After wrapping up her shopping spree inside Fourways Mall, Zinhle confessed that a return taxi trip was completely out of the question—purely due to logistics.

“I’m back at Fourways Mall, I got everything that I need but I’m definitely taking an Uber home,” she laughed. “There’s no route going to my house. I would have loved taking it. It’s so fun and easy. What’s the big fuss?”
