The former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates midfielder has been vindicated after the PSL deducted money from Chippa’s grant to settle what he was owed.
Andile Jali has won his legal battle with Chippa United. The 36-year-old took his former club to the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC) over unpaid wages from his time in Gqeberha between 2024 and 2025.
What Jali claimed
The midfielder argued that his monthly salary was not always paid as per his contract, and that at times he received only part of it. He left the club in 2025.
The ruling
Speaking to Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000, Jali’s attorney, Thembelani Mpakati, confirmed the outcome. He said the DRC ruled in Jali’s favour, and that the PSL deducted the amount from Chippa United’s monthly grant and paid it to the attorneys, who will pass it on to Jali. Mpakati thanked the PSL and its CEO for resolving the matter swiftly.
A double blow for Chippa
The ruling comes while Chippa are still dealing with a three-window FIFA transfer ban. It was imposed after the club failed to settle an outstanding financial obligation to former midfielder Roland Sanou by FIFA’s 5 August deadline, leaving them unable to strengthen their squad.
