Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has sent a clear message to the Ghost faithful: enjoy Camren Dansin’s brilliance, but don’t overload the 21-year-old with expectation.
Following a dominant Man of the Match display alongside Thalente Mbatha in the Buccaneers’ 2–0 Betway Premiership opening victory against newly-promoted Milford FC, Dansin once again proved why he is considered one of South African football’s most exciting prospects.
However, the Moroccan tactician was quick to apply the brakes on runaway fan expectations during his post-match media duties.
Measured Progression Over Instant Stardom
Having handed Dansin his senior debut last season—where the young star memorably scored a Goal of the Season contender against Mamelodi Sundowns—Ouaddou highlighted that the club’s development path for the midfielder is carefully calculated:
“We have to be very careful. I have been in the business for a while, but the boy is doing well – we took time to bring this young talent in,” Ouaddou explained.
“He was with us in most games; we have detected the talent, but you don’t have to burn this talent; it’s step by step. People didn’t understand why it took so much time to bring him, but we knew what we were doing.”
