Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February is set to begin a new chapter in his career after closing in on a season-long loan move to newly promoted PSL side Siwelele FC for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper has already joined his new teammates in Bloemfontein and has started training with the club while the final administrative processes between Sundowns and Siwelele are completed.
February’s representative, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, confirmed that discussions between the two clubs are at an advanced stage, with the goalkeeper expected to complete the move soon.
February Searches for Regular Game Time Away From Sundowns
The move comes after February requested a temporary exit from Chloorkop in order to secure more consistent first-team opportunities.
Competition for places at Sundowns has become increasingly intense following the return of Ricardo Goss, while Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams remains the club’s undisputed first choice. Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango also continues to provide valuable experience within the squad.
Despite his ability and experience, February has struggled to cement a regular starting role at Sundowns, making just eight senior appearances since joining the club.
A loan spell at Siwelele could provide the goalkeeper with the chance to play regularly, rebuild confidence, and regain momentum in his career.
Siwelele Provide Fresh Opportunity for Experienced Goalkeeper
February began his professional career at Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs, before making the move to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2019.
The goalkeeper has also represented South Africa at U23 level and gained valuable experience through previous loan spells at Cape Umoya United, Moroka Swallows, and AmaZulu.
At Siwelele, February will compete for the starting position with new signing Phoko Goitseone, who arrived from Botswana as the club strengthens its squad ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
The move represents an important opportunity for February to revive his career and prove that he can still perform at the highest level in South African football.
