The Miss SA 2026 competition is heating up, and one province is already making a big impression.
Of the 19 women selected as this year’s finalists, 11 are from Gauteng, making the province by far the most represented region in the competition.
So, does Gauteng have South Africa’s “most beautiful women”? The numbers certainly make for an interesting debate — but the Miss SA competition is about much more than appearance.
Gauteng dominates the Miss SA Top 19
The 19 finalists come from seven of South Africa’s nine provinces.
Gauteng leads the way with 11 contestants, followed by KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape with two representatives each.
The North West, Western Cape, Free State and Mpumalanga each have one finalist.
Interestingly, Limpopo and the Northern Cape have no representatives among the Top 19 this year.

Miss SA is about more than beauty
While physical beauty remains part of any pageant, the modern Miss SA competition places significant emphasis on leadership, intelligence, confidence, social impact and empowerment.
The finalists are expected to demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively, engage with important social issues and use their platforms to make a positive contribution.
Interviews, public speaking, social media engagement and community involvement all form part of the broader picture when evaluating the contestants.
So while Gauteng’s dominance may fuel the “most beautiful women” debate, the eventual winner will need to bring considerably more than looks to the table.
