Kaizer Chiefs have eight different Betway Premiership goalscorers this season, led by Wandile Duba. Find out how they compare with Orlando Pirates ahead of the Soweto Derby.

The battle for bragging rights in the Soweto Derby is heating up, and Orlando Pirates will need to pay close attention to more than one Kaizer Chiefs attacker when the two giants meet.

With the highly anticipated Betway Premiership showdown approaching, both teams have reasons to be confident about their attacking options.

Orlando Pirates have already recorded goals from 10 different players in the league this season. However, Kaizer Chiefs are not far behind, with eight players having found the back of the net.

The two Soweto rivals are scheduled to meet at FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 15:30. With local pride and valuable league points at stake, the stage is set for another exciting encounter.

Eight Kaizer Chiefs players have scored in the league

Under coach Fernando Da Cruz, Amakhosi have enjoyed contributions from different players across the pitch.

Leading the scoring charts is young striker Wandile Duba, who has registered three league goals this season.

Duba’s performances have caught the attention of the coaching staff, although Da Cruz believes the youngster still needs to improve his consistency.

Speaking about the forward, the Chiefs coach praised his movement, attacking instincts and ability to make dangerous runs behind opposition defences.

Mduduzi Shabalala and Lebohang Maboe are next on the scoring chart, with two goals apiece.

The remaining five goalscorers have each contributed one league goal, demonstrating that Chiefs have several players capable of making a difference in the final third.

Here is how Amakhosi’s eight goalscorers rank ahead of the Soweto Derby:

One important clarification concerns Faiz Abrahams.

Although his impressive free-kick against Siwelele FC initially appeared to add another name to the Chiefs scoring list, the goal was officially recorded as an own goal against Samukelo Xulu.

The ball struck the post before deflecting into the net off Xulu, meaning Abrahams does not count among Chiefs’ eight league goalscorers.

Orlando Pirates cannot afford to focus on one Chiefs player

For the Buccaneers, preparing to face Amakhosi will require a collective defensive effort.

Wandile Duba is currently the leading threat, but the attacking contributions of Shabalala and Maboe show that Chiefs have goals coming from different positions.

Mfundo Vilakazi and Luke Baartman also offer attacking quality, giving Da Cruz additional options to trouble the Pirates defence.

The challenge for Orlando Pirates will be to prevent Chiefs from finding space in dangerous areas and ensure that their midfield does not allow Amakhosi’s attacking players to dictate the game.

With eight different league goalscorers, Chiefs have demonstrated that their attacking threat is not dependent on one individual.

Who has the stronger attacking depth ahead of the Soweto Derby?

Orlando Pirates currently have the advantage in terms of the number of different league goalscorers, with 10 players compared to Chiefs’ eight.

However, the difference is relatively small, and the Soweto Derby is unlikely to be decided by statistics alone.

Both teams will be desperate to claim victory, and individual brilliance could ultimately determine the outcome.

The big question is whether Kaizer Chiefs’ eight goalscoring players can outshine Orlando Pirates’ 10 when the two rivals meet at FNB Stadium.

Who will come out on top in the Soweto Derby?
