SAFTA-winning actor Bonko Khoza has issued an official public statement addressing the serious sexual assault allegations leveled against him by singer and actress Nirvana Nokwe. The accusations, which Nokwe recently shared online, stem from an alleged incident during the filming of the local crime thriller series Red Ink.
The allegations instantly triggered intense scrutiny and widespread debate across South African social media platforms, placing the former The Wife breakout star at the center of the storm.
Official Statement and Police Investigation
Taking to his official Instagram account on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Khoza released a formal statement acknowledging the gravity of the matter. He confirmed that a criminal case has been registered against him with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and revealed that he is already cooperating fully with law enforcement.
“I wish to address the allegations recently circulated by Ms Nirvana Nokwe Mseleku regarding an incident said to have occurred during the filming of Red Ink on 10 September 2023.”
The actor further disclosed that he has already presented himself to the authorities:
“I have been made aware that a criminal case has been opened and I have since attended an interview at the Braamfontein Police Station with the South African Police Service.”
Maintaining Innocence Amid Legal Battle
While Khoza deliberately refrained from dissecting the specific details of the pending investigation, he firmly maintained his innocence. The actor made it clear that he intends to use the country’s legal structures to clear his name and protect his professional standing.
“I will continue to defend my name, dignity, and reputation against unfounded accusations. I intend to fully exercise my legal rights, bringing this matter to a finality.”
The unfolding legal matter has deeply divided public opinion across Mzansi’s digital spaces, with users urging for a thorough, transparent investigation by the police to ensure justice is served.
