South African artist Ayabonga Zuma, widely known as Sykes, has come forward with shocking allegations about the financial demands of his former record label.

The uMa weNgane hitmaker recently revealed in an interview that he was required to pay a staggering R250,000 (about $13,600) to secure his release from the label and pursue his career independently.
Speaking to STRAATATUBE on YouTube, Sykes detailed the unexpected bill:
“Before I could leave, they gave me a spreadsheet for R250,000 for groceries that I didn’t even eat, per year,” he said.
The singer explained his visible frustration, noting the alleged irony of the situation. Despite never having received any payment from the label during his contract, he was still expected to settle the substantial expense sheet.
“I had to pay for it myself, but I was never paid. But by God’s grace, I managed to give them the money and leave,” Sykes confirmed.
Now that the financial hurdle is behind him, Sykes is operating as an independent artist and appears determined to move past the costly ordeal and focus on his music career.
