Ivorian beauty queen Olivia Yacé has announced her decision to step down from her title as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, stating that her commitment to integrity and personal values must come first.
Yacé, who finished as the fourth runner-up at the Miss Universe 2025 finale in Bangkok, shared the news on her official Facebook page. She emphasized that the decision was a thoughtful choice rooted in purpose, not emotion.
“To continue, I must remain true to my pillars: respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity,” Yacé explained.

Reflections on Her Journey
Yacé described her Miss Universe experience as one that tested her strength, determination, and capability to achieve great things despite adversity. However, she believes that to pursue her full potential, she can no longer operate under the limitations imposed by the role and future involvement with the Miss Universe Committee.
Her core mission remains focused on uplifting and empowering the next generation by acting as a role model.
“I want to be a role model for young girls, encouraging them to confidently enter spaces where they may feel unwelcome and to embrace their identity proudly,” she wrote.

A Powerful Message to the Black Community
In her announcement, Yacé included a powerful call to action directed at Black and Afro-descendant communities globally:
“I call upon Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities to continue entering spaces where you are not expected, opening paths for those who follow. Never allow others to define or limit your potential. Our presence matters, and our voices must be heard.”
Yacé concluded her message by congratulating the new Miss Universe and Miss Universe Jamaica, thanking her supporters, and declaring her readiness for her new journey with the powerful sign-off: “IT’S TIME FOR AFRICA.”
