South African actress Lerato Mvelase is not backing down. After a devastating ordeal that saw her family’s dream vacation vanish into thin air, the Marked star has confirmed that the Hawks (The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation) are now officially investigating the travel agency she accuses of fraud.
Speaking on SABC 1’s Asikhulume, Let’s Talk, an emotional Mvelase detailed how her attempt to create memories with her two sons turned into a financial and emotional nightmare.
The “Black Trotters Africa” Scandal
The controversy centers around a company called Black Trotters Africa. Mvelase alleges that after she paid for a trip, it was abruptly canceled. When she sought a refund, she was met with the claim that the company had been liquidated—a move she views as a calculated attempt to evade responsibility.
Key Allegations from Mvelase:
- The “Syndicate” Claim: She describes the operation as a sophisticated syndicate driven by “lifestyle ambitions” rather than legitimate business.
- Fake Documentation: She alleges that travelers were being supplied with fraudulent flight tickets.
- Coercion: Mvelase revealed she tried to cancel earlier due to financial constraints, but claimed the agency pressured her to continue paying.

For Mvelase, the battle is personal. “Story time. Why? Because they messed with my kids!” she shared on Instagram, naming specific individuals she believes are linked to the scheme.
While former Head of Sales, Tumelo Tshepang Matenche, has issued a public statement claiming he was “equally in the dark” and unaware of the alleged scam, Mvelase remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice, hoping to prevent other families from falling into the same trap.
