Young prodigy Mfundo Vilakazi struck the match-winner to hand new head coach Fernando Da Cruz his first victory at the helm, giving Amakhosi momentum ahead of the new campaign. However, dark clouds hung over the post-match celebrations following Cross’ forced withdrawal just before half-time.
Defensive Crisis at Left-Back
Cross, 25, was replaced by central defender Given Msimango, who filled in on the flank for the remainder of the contest.
