Pretoria hip-hop continues to produce some of South Africa’s most distinctive voices, and Loatinover Pounds has just given fans another reason to pay attention.
The Mabopane-born rapper and producer has confirmed that his highly anticipated new album is officially complete. However, instead of revealing the project’s title or release date, Pounds has chosen to leave fans with a cryptic clue.
Taking to social media, the artist simply announced:
“Album done. 🩵☁️🪜”
He then added another question for his followers:
“What do you G2G stands for?”
And just like that, speculation began.
What does “G2G” mean?
The three-letter-and-number combination has caught the attention of Pounds’ followers, particularly because “G2G” also appears in his social-media bio alongside his booking information.
The rapper has not explained whether the phrase is connected to the new album, a song, a concept or something completely unrelated.
That uncertainty has arguably made the announcement even more interesting.
While “G2G” can have several meanings in everyday online language, including “good to go” or “got to go”, Pounds appears to be keeping his own interpretation private for now.
Fans will therefore have to wait for the artist to reveal whether the mysterious phrase forms part of the album’s rollout.
The emojis may be another clue
Pounds’ choice of emojis has also sparked curiosity.
The announcement was accompanied by a light-blue heart, cloud and ladder. There has been no explanation from the rapper about what the symbols represent, leaving fans free to interpret them in their own way.
Whether the emojis are simply part of Pounds’ creative expression or contain a deeper message connected to the upcoming project remains unclear.
For now, there is no confirmation that they represent the album’s theme or title.
Building on the success of Pray 4 Pitori
The new album follows the momentum created by Pounds’ 2024 debut project, Pray 4 Pitori, also known as P4P.
The project helped cement his reputation as one of the notable voices emerging from Pretoria’s hip-hop community, with the rapper drawing heavily from his environment, experiences and Pitori culture.
His journey had already been taking shape before the debut album, with releases such as Hood Misunderstood in 2022 helping establish his musical identity.
Tracks such as “Sosh Plata” further introduced his sound to a wider audience and helped build anticipation around his subsequent work.

More than just a rapper
Pounds has also developed a reputation for being deeply involved in his creative process.
As both a rapper and producer, he has been able to shape much of his own sound while blending lyricism, melody and production into a style strongly connected to Pretoria.
That creative involvement could make the new project particularly interesting, especially given the mystery surrounding its title, concept and rollout.
The countdown begins
With the album now confirmed as complete, the next questions are obvious.
When will it be released?
What will it be called?
Who will feature on it?
And perhaps the biggest question of all: what exactly does “G2G” mean?
Pounds has provided confirmation that the music is finished, but he has deliberately kept the rest of the story under wraps.
For now, fans can only speculate.
One thing, however, is clear: the next Loatinover Pounds chapter is ready to begin.
