A new chapter has begun for Miss Supranational South Africa, with former Mrs South Africa Joani Jacobs taking over ownership of the national franchise from Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala.

The South African pageant landscape is entering another new phase, with Jacobs and the Mrs South Africa team now at the helm of the Miss Supranational South Africa franchise.

Montjane-Tshabalala had held the directorship since May 2025. The franchise will now operate under Jacobs’ leadership as preparations begin to identify and develop South Africa’s next representative for the international competition.

Joani Jacobs brings years of pageant experience

Jacobs is a familiar name in South African pageantry.

She was crowned Mrs South Africa in 2009 and has served as CEO of the Mrs South Africa organisation since 2011, helping develop the platform around leadership, purpose and meaningful impact.

Her experience also extends into modelling. Jacobs founded Ace Models International in 2005, which has grown into a network of franchises across the industry.

With that background, her new role gives Miss Supranational South Africa a leader with extensive experience in both pageantry and talent development.

A new vision for Miss Supranational SA

Under Jacobs’ leadership, the franchise is expected to place strong emphasis on preparing its titleholder for life beyond the competition.

A national search and development programme is planned as South Africa looks towards its next appearance at Miss Supranational.

Jacobs believes winning a crown should be viewed as the beginning of a much bigger journey rather than the final destination.

Her approach will focus on helping the eventual winner develop the skills, profile and professional relationships needed to make the most of an international platform.

Building on Lalela Mswane’s legacy

The new era comes four years after Lalela Mswane made South African pageant history by winning the international Miss Supranational crown in 2022.

Mswane’s victory demonstrated South Africa’s ability to compete successfully on the global pageant stage, and Jacobs is keen to build on that achievement.

The challenge now is to identify a new titleholder capable of representing the country internationally while carrying forward the legacy created by previous South African contestants.

What comes next?

With the franchise now under new leadership, attention will turn to the national search for the next Miss Supranational South Africa.

Jacobs’ emphasis on development, preparation and long-term opportunities could signal a shift towards a more holistic approach to the competition.

For South African pageant fans, the big question is now clear: Who will become the next woman to carry the Miss Supranational South Africa title onto the international stage?
