Durban rapper Usimamane has bought his first home. He shared a video of the new property on Instagram, and fans and members of the South African hip-hop community, including Cassper Nyovest, quickly sent their congratulations.
A Fast Climb
The purchase follows a rapid rise since his national breakthrough in 2024. He first drew widespread attention with “Cheque,” which went triple-platinum, and followed it with his debut album 20th: Days Before Maud. The project made an immediate impact on Spotify South Africa and included collaborations with artists such as Sjava.
He has also been named an Apple Music Rap Life Africa cover artist, and his international reach grew through a collaboration with American rapper Rick Ross. In 2026 he released G-Wagon Music: Baby Tai, which continues his focus on ambition, success and the rewards that come with the grind.
Rooted in Umlazi
The milestone carries extra meaning for an artist who grew up in Umlazi, the Durban township that has produced generations of influential South African artists. Usimamane has consistently represented his roots while building the Simamane name in the industry.
Beyond the Music
His list of achievements now includes platinum success, major collaborations, international recognition and a growing presence outside music, including his role as a Playboy South Africa ambassador. A home of his own adds a tangible reward to a journey that began in Umlazi and has reached the national and international stage.
