Kaizer Chiefs youngster Faiz Abrahams appears to have hinted at his possible squad number after being spotted in the Amakhosi dressing room.

Kaizer Chiefs’ latest signing Faiz Abrahams may already have given supporters a clue about the shirt number he could wear at Naturena.

The 21-year-old attacker recently shared a picture from the Kaizer Chiefs dressing room ahead of a match, with the No. 35 shirt catching the attention of Amakhosi supporters.

The number became available following Aden McCarthy’s departure to Sabah FK, potentially opening the door for Abrahams to take it over.

However, Chiefs fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing their new signing in competitive action.

Abrahams’ rapid rise

Abrahams has emerged as one of South Africa’s promising young attacking players.

The Cape Flats-born footballer developed through the Ajax Cape Town academy, which later became Cape Town Spurs, and made his PSL debut in April 2024 shortly after turning 19.

His breakthrough came at Stellenbosch FC, where he enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge campaign, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists.

Those numbers earned him the DDC Player of the Season award and helped accelerate his progression into senior football.

Abrahams also gained valuable overseas experience during a loan spell with Hapoel Kfar Saba in Israel, making 11 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Chiefs debut still on hold

Abrahams has also represented South Africa at youth level. He featured for Amajita at the 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, making three appearances and contributing an assist as South Africa won the continental title.

Now at Kaizer Chiefs, the young attacker will be hoping to make a similar impact at senior level.

Head coach Fernando Da Cruz has confirmed that Abrahams is not yet fully fit after missing pre-season with Stellenbosch before completing his move to Chiefs.

That means his debut will have to wait until he reaches the required level of match fitness.

For now, the appearance of No. 35 has given Amakhosi supporters something to speculate about.

Will Faiz Abrahams become the next Kaizer Chiefs player to wear the No. 35 shirt?
