Betway Premiership Matchweek 6 produced 16 goals, with Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs held to draws, Milford FC winning 5-1 and Kruger United making history.

Matchweek 6 of the Betway Premiership delivered 16 goals between Friday and Sunday, with several of South Africa’s biggest clubs dropping points and newly promoted Kruger United celebrating a historic first top-flight victory.

The action ran from 11 to 13 September 2026, producing a weekend of draws, red cards, surprise results and one emphatic 5-1 victory.

Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs held to draws

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns were unable to maintain their winning momentum after being held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium.

The result brought Sundowns’ winning run to an end, although the champions remained at the top of the Betway Premiership standings.

Kaizer Chiefs also failed to claim maximum points on the road. Amakhosi were held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The two results ensured that neither of the league’s heavyweight clubs could strengthen their position with a victory.

AmaZulu claim one of Saturday’s few wins

While the bigger clubs struggled, AmaZulu FC secured an important 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants in Durban.

Gallants finished the match with 10 players, allowing AmaZulu to capitalise and collect three valuable points as they continued their climb up the standings.

Milford FC produce the weekend’s biggest statement

The most convincing result of Matchweek 6 came on Sunday at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Milford FC demolished Richards Bay 5-1 in the highest-scoring match of the weekend.

Richards Bay were reduced to 10 men early in the contest, and Milford made the numerical advantage count with an impressive attacking display.

The result strengthens Milford’s encouraging start to the campaign and gives them further momentum heading into the next round of fixtures.

Kruger United make club history

There was also a landmark moment for Kruger United, who recorded their first-ever victory in South Africa’s top flight.

The newcomers defeated TS Galaxy 1-0 away from home at Kameelrivier Stadium.

TS Galaxy were reduced to 10 men early in the second half, giving Kruger United an opportunity to push for the breakthrough. They took advantage and held on for a memorable three points.

It was a significant milestone for the club as they continue to adapt to life in the Betway Premiership.

Another weekend of dropped points

The weekend also saw Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United share the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Athlone Stadium.

Meanwhile, Siwelele FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows also played out a 1-1 draw at Free State Stadium.

With five of the seven fixtures ending in draws or narrow victories, Matchweek 6 once again underlined the competitiveness of the Betway Premiership.

Sundowns remain at the summit despite dropping points, while Kaizer Chiefs will also be looking for a stronger result in their next outing.
