Kaizer Chiefs return to CAF Confederation Cup action this weekend facing Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek, following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Al Masry in Suez.

Ahead of Saturday’s crucial showdown, former Amakhosi defender Dominic Isaacs believes the decision to move the game to Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium (46,000 capacity) could significantly favour the Soweto giants.

Using Heat and Altitude as Home Advantage
Isaacs, affectionately known as “Domza,” welcomed the move, asserting that the expected high afternoon temperatures and altitude in Limpopo will discomfort the North African visitors.
“I am very happy they took the game to Polokwane,” Isaacs said. “Teams from North Africa don’t like playing in the sun during the afternoon. Most of the time, when they play at home, matches are scheduled in the evening.”
The match is scheduled for a 15:00 kick-off, positioning the game directly in the heat of the day.
Isaacs insists that Chiefs must leverage this environmental factor against Zamalek, who are one of the most decorated teams in the competition, having won the CAF Confederation Cup twice (2018/19 and 2023/24).
“We must learn to use the sun and the altitude to our advantage,” he explained. “Our boys can play in the sun. This is where home conditions matter.”
